Guided Trip Notes

Where We Are Located:

Creede Location:

Rio Grande Angler – 13 South Main Street in downtown Creede

South Fork Locations:

8200 Mountain Sports – 30923 West Highway 160

South Fork is located 45 miles west of Alamosa on Hwy 160; Creede is 21 miles further upriver on Hwy 149.

Creede & South Fork are about a five-hour drive southwest of Denver, two hours northeast of Durango and five hours from Albuquerque.

Alamosa regional airport is approximately 90 minutes from Creede. Daily flights from Denver and Albuquerque are available and the Durango airport also has scheduled daily flights (a car rental service is provided at the airport).

Del Norte, Monte Vista and Creede (all close by) also have small runways for private planes and a pick-up service can be arranged.

What To Bring:

We suggest breathable waders coupled with synthetic long underwear and thick socks, as the water temperatures can be cool. Felt soled or Rubber soled wading boots are a must – absolutely no studded boots are allowed in the boats, nor are they recommended for small streams.

In the mid summer heat many people prefer to wet wade on trips and find that it is very refreshing. Quick dry shorts and briefs are highly recommended. For float trips we suggest river sandals and shorts, as you will be in the boat the majority of the day.

Don’t forget your fishing vest, long sleeve shirt, hat, polarized glasses, sunscreen, bug spray, camera, medications, polar fleece pullover and of course rain gear for the daily afternoon showers.

Equipment recommendations are 8′-9′ 3, 4 or 5wt rods for dries and nymphing. Plus a 9′ 6wt for streamers and windy days. A 7′-9′ leader in 4x or 5x is preferred.

A Colorado fishing license is required.*

A one-day license is $15 to $18—Annual Licenses range from $47-$118.

What We Provide

All fishing gear, soft tackle is provided. Stream-side lunch is included on full day trips.* Drinks are provided on 1/2-day trips. Our all-inclusive trips have NO hidden costs, and don’t require the purchase of additional supplies or equipment! Catch and release, and the use of barb-less hooks, is practiced on all trips.

*We ask that you please specify if you are a vegetarian or have any food allergies!

Reservations:

We require a 50% deposit via credit card at the time of booking. The balance of the trip is due at time of arrival the day of the trip.

Cancellation Policy:

Good guides on good rivers are in high demand and our guides are professionals who make their living during a short and very intense fishing season. The Rio Grande Angler and South Fork Anglers require a 14-day prior notice on cancellations of all trips. Any notice given less than 14 days will be charged 100% of the trip price. We fish rain or shine, trips are not cancelled due to weather conditions–the fish don’t care about the rain… they’re already wet.

South Fork Anglers INC. and Rio Grande Angler Flyshop is an equal opportunity service provider operating under a special use permit by the USFS/BLM. SFA & RGA is fully licensed, bonded and insured.
